Though Aquaman is the only DCEU movie set to come out this year, 2019 will introduce us to a new superhero in the form of Shazam!’s Captain Marvel. Zachary Levi, who plays the grown-up Marvel, talks about the movie’s script, and what we can expect from the film.
Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Levi explains:
“I can’t tell you much, as you can probably imagine, but what I can say is I am just out of my mind excited!… I get to do my version of Big, basically. It’s like Superman meets Big, and that’s just so fun.”
Just in case you didn’t know, Big is a movie starring Tom Hanks where a young boy suddenly finds himself in a body of a grown man (Hanks). So Shazam! will basically be like Big, except that Hanks is a muscular, super-powered demi-god.
I think Levi is a fun actor, and I can’t wait to see him grace the big screen as Captain Marvel. With Superman and Batman more on the broody side of the DCEU, I’d love to see what young Billy Batson has to bring to the table.
Shazam! is directed by David F. Sandberg and stars Zachary Levi as Captain Marvel with Asher Angel as Billy Batson.
Shazam! is set for a release in April 2019.
