Sebastian Stan’s Young Donald Trump Seals the Deal in Latest Clip from The Apprentice

Sebastian Stan has a penchant for biopics, having played drummer Tommy Lee and Tonya Harding’s ex in previous films. Now he’s set to embody a young Donald Trump in The Apprentice. The film comes out this week, and we have a new clip showcasing the dynamic between Trump and his first wife Ivana (Maria Bakalova).

Check this out:

Though Trump’s public persona is pretty well-established in the public eye, the movie looks to tell a sort of origin story which explains why Trump is the way he is, from his brazen confidence to his refusal to admit anything he does is wrong.

Stan’s doe-eyed Trump may have an aw-shucks quality about him, but the movie does have him following around Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong), who the film implies is the reason Trump is the way he is. We don’t know how accurate the movie is going to be, but it does look to have a very irreverent story to tell—which should be perfect for a figure like Trump.

I’m just excited to see Maria Bakalova in the film. She may have gotten introduced to the general audience as Borat’s weird daughter, but she’s since moved on to some really interesting roles with films like Bodies Bodies Bodies.

Here’s the description for the film:

A young Donald Trump (Sebastian Stan), eager to make his name as a hungry second son of a wealthy family in 1970s New York, comes under the spell of Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong), the cutthroat attorney who would help create the Donald Trump we know today. Cohn sees in Trump the perfect protégé—someone with raw ambition, a hunger for success, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to win.

Catch The Apprentice when it comes to cinemas this Oct. 11.
