E4 in the UK is teasing their newest comedy Wasted by cashing in on HBO juggernaut Game of Thrones. In the teaser below main character Morpheus (Danny Kirrane) is visited by his spirit guide, Sean Bean. Bean, the honorable and doomed Lord Eddard Stark on Game of Thrones, appears in full fur cloak and Winterfell man-bun (though sadly missing the facial hair) to advise Morpheus. He elaborates on the fallacy of the geek’s decision to get a tattoo of a “1:5,000 scale map of Westeros.” Can’t say we disagree with that. Bet Sean would be cool with the Stark wolf sigil, though. Perhaps the word “nine” in Elvish?
The official synopsis for Wasted is as follows:
“Wasted focuses on four mates wasting their twenties in a West Country village. Morpheus, a geeky conspiracy theorist runs a mystical souvenir shop with his unambitious sister, Sarah. His scrounger best friend Kent sleeps on their sofa rent-free, and his secret crush, Alison, runs a new age healing business at the back of the shop.
Mixing the misadventures of twenty something life with visually surreal set pieces, it’s about the very bad things that really good friends do to each other, when they’ve been living in each other’s pockets since school.”
The comedy, which airs on 19 July, will have six episodes starring Kirrane and Bean as well as Dylan Edwards, Gwyneth Keyworth, Rose Reynolds, Tom Canton and Matthew Jacobs Morgan. The E4 channel is a UK exclusive, though eventually American audiences may be able to see the series, too.
Meanwhile, Bean can also be seen in the critically-acclaimed The Frankenstein Chronicles. Though A&E secured rights to the six-episode series, recently renewed for a second season, they have yet to announced an air date in the US. The show initially aired in the UK in November 2015.
