Ah the rush we get when we go to a Marvel film for the first time in the theater and we hear the comic book pages flipping, the score by Brian Tyler, first seen at the opening of Thor: The Dark World. Well, hope you weren’t stuck on it because Marvel has just updated that updated version (the original is the one you can still see with 20th Century Fox’s Marvel films). The new opening features a new fanfare composed by Michael Giachinno and a compilation of imagery of all of Marvel’s films, heroes and villains to date.

Giachinno has quite the impressive resume having scored films like Jurassic World, Star Trek Beyond and Doctor Strange. He’s also responsible for the music of Lost and Disney faves like Ratatouille and Zootopia.
Why change it you ask? Well, it’s Phase 3 after all. As such Marvel will be updating its opening theme every time we enter into a new filming phase. The first film you’ll see the new branding on will be Doctor Strange, which opens November 4.
While the new version may sound less booming it has a certain heroic, classic quality to it. It’s hard not to like it. Marvel knows its stuff and when it comes to casting, even composers, they have been almost always spot on.
