Sgt. Rock may not be moving forward soon, but director Luca Guadagnino is set to remake American Psycho, and everyone has been curious as to who could be his new Patrick Bateman.
While a lot of have been pitching their fancasts with the likes of Austin Butler and Robert Pattinson, one star from Gen V and White Lotus is seemingly putting his name in the ring. Here’s Patrick Schwarzenegger reacting to a fan post suggesting he should star:

To be fair, Schwarzenegger has been giving that American Psycho vibe when he was first introduced in the latest season of White Lotus. Besides the confusion that he was hitting on his own brother, the fact that he was kind of in the hedge fund business with his father also hinted a bit at that American Psycho connection.
While a lot of people would argue that the movie doesn’t need a remake, there has been a call to examine how toxic masculinity has evolved over the decades. This was pretty much explored by Netflix’s hit series Adolescence, but how would American Psycho change based on what we know about ‘alpha male’ culture today?
Probably the only snag is that Luca Guadagnino is a man, compared to the director of the original American Psycho Mary Harron who told the story through the eyes of a woman director. It’s sure to change how the movie is received, but I’m sure a lot of people are already expecting it to be hot and crazy—such is the Guadagnino brand of movies.
No release date has been set for Guadagnino’s American Psycho remake, but fans are expecting it come out sometime after 2026.
