The death of Carrie Fisher has left a huge hole to fill in the upcoming Star Wars Episode IX.
However, it looks like Lucasfilm has found another Legacy character that could return for the final installment of the sequel trilogy.
According to Fantha Tracks, Billy Dee Williams has signed on to reprise the role of Lando Calrissian, and we should be expecting an announcement before production begins for the movie. Of course, we should just consider this as a rumor for now, but the source is known to be reliable.
Rumors have been going around about Williams’ return last month after it was revealed that the 81-year-old actor was undergoing training three times a week. Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill were also asked to be in shape when they were asked to return to Star Wars as well.
Will Billy Dee return? Only time will tell. The status of Lando is still very open, and after the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, he’s found an all-new popularity with the fanbase. Let’s hope they bring this ol’ smoothie back for the last episode of the sequel trilogy.
Star Wars Episode IX is set to come out Dec. 20, 2019.
