Rogue One Legacy Character Recast for Andor Season 2

Rogue One Legacy Character Recast for Andor Season 2

A lot of fans are excited about the return of Andor on Disney+, and with it will see the return of several Legacy characters including Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) and Director Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn).

With more characters expected to appear in the build-up to the events in Rogue One, showrunner Tony Gilroy has confirmed that one Legacy has been recast for the second season. Talking to THR, Gilroy confirms:

“Legacy characters are really tricky to bring back. They’re very, very expensive. A lot of times, their schedules don’t work out… There’s probably a couple people that we wanted to have in Yavin at the end, who are in the beginning of Rogue, but we just couldn’t get them because they were busy.”

Immediately the only character that fans instantly thought about was Bail Organa (Jimmy Smits) who is the biggest legacy character in Rogue One, having appeared in the Prequels as well. Smits had even reprised the role for the Kenobi show, but it’s possible he was busy since he was shooting for the upcoming Dexter revival.

If it’s not Smits, it’s possible that Gilroy could be talking about General Drevan (Alistair Petrie) or General Merrick (Ben Daniels). Maybe it could even be General Dodonna who was a character that appeared in the very first Star Wars and was played by Game of Thrones’ Ian McElhinney in Rogue One.

Hopefully fans won’t throw much of a fit about the recast, but this is Star Wars we’re talking about, so it’s probably happening.

Catch Andor Season 2 when it premieres on Disney+ on April 22.
