It’s probably criminal to think of the DCEU going forward and not consider how Margot Robbie’s take on Harley Quinn will factor in. She, along with Jared Leto’s Joker, is already everyone’s meter on how to best measure the foreseeable success of Suicide Squad. But the film industry is a rough beast; plans change, actors come and go, and directors and writers on a project usually hold no weight in the public eye until actual footage is in the wild. Fortunately, for fans of the DCEU, if plans are altered, according to Margot Robbie, one thing just may remain constant: Harley Quinn.
In a brief interview with Fandango’s Erik Davis, the actress spoke of her desire to continue playing the character for as long as possible. When asked if she wanted to continue on as Harley Quinn, Robbie responded, “Yeah, I’m so not done playing her yet.”
Robbie was also asked her if she had been signed on for multiple films following her introduction in Suicide Squad. While she didn’t let slip any concrete details, she did say that she’d be willing to do whatever it takes to return after that film’s conclusion. “I will do whatever I can to keep playing Harley for another couple of years. Until my body gives out and I can’t do it anymore.”

Her enthusiasm towards the character is just as endearing as that of her fellow DCEU co-stars Jared Leto and Jason Momoa for their respective parts. The trailers show her definitely nailing the role, but we’ll finally see just how well Harley Quinn is portrayed once Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5.
