Paramount recently released Star Trek Beyond’s third trailer, backed with a new track from Rihanna entitled Sledgehammer. The song and the trailer have garnered plenty of buzz, and now the singer has opened up about the collaboration. In a featurette on the studio’s YouTube account, Rihanna talks her love of the franchise and what she hoped to achieve with Sledgehammer.
Perhaps most endearing is Rihanna’s explanation behind the song’s tone. She goes into how the music melds a number of emotions together for one impactful track. While she, unfortunately, doesn’t delve into too much detail, the featurette still provides interesting insight. The video can be viewed below.
