5 Most Hilarious (And 5 Most Profound) Moments on Rick and Morty

Hilarious: Roy

A great punchline can make the longest setup absolutely worth it. In “Mortynight Run,” Rick and Morty visit Blips and Chitz (the intergalactic version of Dave & Buster’s). Rick makes Morty play Roy, and then we see Roy’s life play out for a solid minute. We see Roy grow up, marry his college sweetheart, battle cancer, and eventually die. Then it’s revealed Roy was just a game. Seeing all the aliens later become ecstatic that Rick’s Roy doesn’t have a social security number is just a bonus.

Profound: I am in Great Pain. Please Help Me.

“Wubba lubba dub dub” first debuted on the show as a silly nonsense catchphrase, but it takes on greater meaning in the Season 1 finale. In the scene, Birdperson tells Morty that “Wubba lubba dub dub” actually means “I am in great pain. Please help me.” Taking this internal logic into account, it makes every instance Rick says it somewhat painful. And it’s almost certain he’s not going to stop saying it any time soon. After all, this is going to be the darkest year of their adventures yet.
