If you know your DC TV shows, you probably know by now that Supergirl will be leaping from its previous network of CBS to The CW for its second season. The CW is, of course, also home to Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, meaning that the network has a fully-fledged superhero universe on its hands. The CW is definitely embracing this with a passion, as this fun new promo demonstrates.
Released at the San Diego Comic-Con (via ComicBookResources), the video is gloriously retro – harking back to classic DC comics and cartoons like Super Friends. As well as that, some nifty editing gives us our first taster of the four-way crossover that is due to happen this autumn, which will unite the Emerald Archer, the Scarlet Speedster, the Waverider warriors and the Girl of Steel in a battle against evil. The promo also features a comic book representation of Superman – who will also join The CW‘s band of heroes when Tyler Hoechlin dons the cape in the first two episodes of Supergirl season 2.
Have a watch of the sizzle reel here:
The CW have also released an awesome new poster stating that its network is the “home of the best superhero shows anywhere.” Of course, Marvel, Netflix and ABC might take issue with that – as would Fox with their own DC series, Gotham.
You can gape at the poster below:
All The CW‘s DC series return this October. First, The Flash arrives on Tuesday 4th, then Arrow on Wednesday 5th, followed by Supergirl on Monday 10th and finally Legends on Thursday 13th.
