Production on the Paul W. S. Anderson directed zombie action flick, based on Capcom’s hit video game franchise, began in September 2015 and wrapped in December of that year. It is the sequel to 2012’s Resident Evil: Retribution that did tremendously well at the box office, earning $240 million on a $65 million budget. In an interview with Forbes in 2012, producer Samuel Hadida stated a sixth and seventh installment were being planned and a reboot of the series was possible. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is the franchise’s final outing, but with a new Resident Evil game releasing in 2017 that will inevitably kick start the series again, a reboot of the film series is certainly a possibility.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is set to release on January 27, 2017 and stars  star Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Shawn Roberts, William Levy, Ruby Rose and Iain Glen.

Film’s synopsis:

“The T-virus unleashed by the evil Umbrella corporation has spread to every corner of the globe, turning Earth into a hellscape of zombies, demons and monsters. Now, Alice, a former Umbrella employee turned rogue warrior, joins her friends on a last-chance mission to save mankind by storming the company’s headquarters located deep underneath what used to be Raccoon City. But the Red Queen knows Alice is coming, and the final battle will determine if the rest of mankind lives or dies.”
