This morning at 9:00am PST, the Uncharted 4 open multiplayer beta goes live. The beta ends Sunday, March 6th at 11:59pm PST and is available to all PlayStation 4 players. Because the beta is a stress test, which is used to get as many people as possible playing and assess the issues, a PS Plus subscription is not required. If you are seeing this before the the beta has launched, it can be preloaded now — check the “Free” section on PSN.
Unfortunately, to avoid manufacturing issues, Uncharted 4 A Thief’s End was recently pushed back two weeks from its April 26th release date to May 10th. The report was made via a blog post by Shawn Layden, SCEA President and CEO, just hours after the open multiplayer beta announcement. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not, Naughty Dog and Sony are smart; the adroitly timed announcements between the two was almost assuredly to soften the blow of the delay.
If you spend a portion of the day away from your PS4, but still want to witness Uncharted 4 action, the Naughty Dog Twitch Channel will host a stream at 9:30am PST and 5:00pm PST featuring special guests.
As you await the beta and adventurous fun with Nathan Drake to begin, let us know in the comments what you think of the delay and beta timing. Purposeful? Coincidence? Either way, have a happy gaming weekend!
