While it looks like the Alien franchise is on hold for now, Ridley Scott has teamed up with HBO to bring us this new show called Raised by Wolves. While the first trailer already looked fantastic, HBO Max has dropped a new preview that gives us a better idea of the plot.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Two androids are tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.

Though Scott had attempted to try and elevate the sci-fi genre with Prometheus, he had admittedly stumbled with the execution, leading to a course-correct with Alien: Covenant. With Raised by Wolves though, it looks like he is free to try and tell a story that will give some valuable insight on the human condition—something that was probably lost when they were trying to reboot a box office franchise.

I have to say, I’m really loving the look of the series, and the design of the costumes, characters, and sets all scream old school science fiction. It’s like they took the aesthetic of all those old films and rebooted it with modern film making techniques; giving us something that feels nostalgic yet incredibly fresh.

I really can’t wait to check it out.

Catch Raise by Wolves when it hits HBO Max on Sept. 3.
