Just Wild Beat: Overwatch Celebrates 30 Years of Gundam Wing with New Skins

After their collaboration with Avatar: The Last Airbender and several other hit anime, Overwatch has decided to celebrate with the Gundam fandom by marking the 30th Anniversary of Gundam Wing.

The skins have been teased for a while, but now we have a look at four new skins for Overwatch heroes based on Gundam Wing mobile suits. Check this out:

As confirmed by the leaks, we have:

Mercy – Wing Zero

Ramattra – Epyon

Solder: 76 – Tallgeese

Reaper – Deathscythe

This is just a nitpick on my end, but I thought there should have been five skins reflecting the five different Gundams that made up Operation Meteor on Gundam Wing. Sure we have the Wing and the Deathscythe, but what about the Heavyarms, the Sandrock, and the Shenlong?

I guess it does make up for it since the Tallgeese is still considered to be one of the most iconic suits to come out of the series, and Ramattra does look pretty slick as the Epyon.

It’s just kind of ironic that Overwatch would have a Gundam collab, seeing that the Gundam-themed Overwatch clone, Gundam Evolution had to shut down back in 2023. We don’t know if someone will come back with the concept, but as of now, it looks like Marvel Rivals is the only successful OW clone that’s been able to match the numbers of the OG Overwatch.

The Overwatch 2 x Gundam collab will run from April 29–May 12. Overwatch 2 is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation 4|5.
