Johann Johannsson has provided the score for movies like mother!, Sicario, and Arrival, and has won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar for his work on The Theory of Everything. What was a promising career has come to a halt as Johannsson was found dead in his apartment in Berlin.
Johannsson’s death was confirmed on his Facebook account by his LA manager Tim Husom, who left a message on behalf of Redbird Music Management:
It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of our dear friend Jóhann. We have lost one of the most talented and brilliant people who we had the privilege of knowing and working with. May his music continues to inspire us.
No details have been revealed about how Johannsson has died at such a young age, but hopefully, we’ll get more updates in the future.
Johannsson had provided music for several projects throughout his career, and he has also scored three movies that have yet to be released: Mandy; The Mercy; and Mary Magdalene.
With a Golden Globe award and two Oscar nominations (besides other awards), it’s certainly a waste to lose a man with such talent. With cinema being what it is, Johannsson has already found immortality in his works as they will stay long after he’s gone.
