It seems like this week is filled with animated movie reveals. Yesterday saw the release of a new trailer for Wreck-It Ralph 2, and now WB has dropped their first trailer for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.
Here’s the official description:
The much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, global box office phenomenon that started it all, “The LEGO® Movie 2: The Second Part,” reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild.
The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.
Besides returning cast members like Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, and Will Arnett. But that’s not all. The movie will also introduce to us new characters. There’s Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi (Tiffany Haddish), Sweet Mayhem (Stephanie Beatriz), and there’s also Ice Cream Cone (Arturo Castro).
The first movie ended up with the arrival of Duplo. Now, I have a feeling that the storyline for this sequel will have the sister of the main boy invading his play area. The “alien” character looks very close to the more girl-targeted LEGO line. It also questions the importance of Emmett as a man despite Wyldstyle doing a lot of the work.
Catch The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part in theaters Feb. 8, 2019.
