The teaser for The Fantastic Four: First Steps mostly just gave us a look at the main four, but a new trailer has dropped and they’ve given us a look at Galactus and his herald—the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner).

Unlike the Norrin Radd Silver Surfer which is the more popular version in the comics, this Surfer is a woman this time, but she’s no less formidable. The identity of this Surfer is said to be Shalla-Bal, Norrin Radd’s lover from his home planet. It looks like in this timeline, it’s Shalla who makes the bargain to be Galactus’ herald, and Radd is the one that stays behind at home.
We don’t know exactly how this movie is going to be treating the Four, but it has been suspected that they will actually lose this fight and will be forced to seek refuge in the main 616 MCU timeline. With the trailer having so much emphasis on the people though, I am hoping that they manage to succeed, but they will still know exactly how large a threat Galactus is when he comes for the MCU continuity—or is Doom going to be the main villain? It’s hard to tell these days.
Besides the Surfer, the trailer also confirms that Sue will be pregnant this time around, opening the way for Franklin Richards—a very powerful mutant who could be integral to the story of Avengers: Doomsday. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to hit cinemas on July 25.
