It was a shame that Prey had to release digitally when it was so great, but now it looks like Predator is ready to come back to cinemas with the release of Predator: Badlands.
The first teaser has just been dropped, and it features on familiar face with Elle Fanning. Check this out:
The official description reads:
“Predator: Badlands,” which stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, is set in the future on a remote planet, where a young Predator (Schuster-Koloamatangi), outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary.
Badlands isn’t the only incoming Predator project this year either. In June, an animated anthology movie Predator: Killer of Killer is also set to drop on Hulu.
After the success of Alien: Romulus, a lot of fans have been wondering when we were going to get a resurgence of Predator in cinemas. There is actually a rumor going around that Fanning may actually be playing a Weyland-Yutani android, so it’s possible that Predator could be embracing the shared universe with Alien.
Personally, I’d like to see them carve out their own franchise first, but seeing as to how much money the AVP movies made, it would make sense that someone in charge of the studios wants to bring back that same kind of crossover with the resurgence of the Alien and Predator franchise.
