With Deadpool being the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, it’s no mystery that a lot of people are hyped up for the sequel. We did get out Bob Ross-inspired teaser not too long ago, but now we have news on when we’re going to get a full trailer.
According to Collider, the first trailer for Deadpool 2 is set to come out on Valentine’s Day, only two days before the release of Marvel’s Black Panther. Fans will recall that the first movie came out February of 2016, and the film poked a lot of fun at lovers for Valentine’s as well. There was even marketing material selling Deadpool as a romantic movie.
For now, the film has been bumped up from its original release date in June to May so it will be competing with box office heavy hitters like Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Knowing Deadpool, I’m pretty sure the film can stand its ground when it comes out. I do feel sorry for the Slender Man movie which had to push its release to August, having to compete with three blockbuster movies in May.
For now, we don’t have any specifics on the story for the Deadpool sequel, but we do know that the movie will introduce us to fan-favorites like Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz). There’s also news saying that this movie will help build-up to an X-Force film, but with the Disney/Fox acquisition, I’m wondering how much of the original plan will be altered.
Deadpool 2 comes out May 18.
