While it looks like Aquaman is aiming to dominate the box office this December, Paramount is also releasing its first Transformers spinoff centered on Bumblebee. A new trailer has come out, and it gives us a better look at Cybertron as well as Bee’s position in the film when the movie starts out.
Though some were dead sure that the main villain of this film is Starscream, it’s been confirmed that the character in this movie is actually Blitzwing. It is worth noting, however, that his paintjob is reminiscent of classic G1 Starscream. As the trailer reveals, Blitz is the one who seriously injures Bee, forcing him to take the form of a beetle and go dormant.
Besides that, we get a whole lore more of Optitmus Prime and the war on Cybertron. We don’t know how much of that will be in the film, but it would be cool to see all the characters looking a lot closer to their G1 appearance. Though the Michael Bay films made a lot of money, one of the most common criticisms was that almost every transformer was indistinguishable because they all looked like a bunch of scraps parts haphazardly glued together.
On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee the Autobot seeks refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town. Charlie, on the brink of turning 18 years old and trying to find her place in the world, soon discovers the battle-scarred and broken Bumblebee. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns that this is no ordinary yellow Volkswagen.
