The anticipation is already rising for Alien: Covenant, even with a year to go. Set somewhere after the events of Prometheus, everyone is eager to see how Covenant will tie in with Ridley Scott’s prequel. Michael Fassbender, who plays David in both films, has been fanning the excitement in an interview over on Collider.
Furthermore, photos from the Covenant set have also been causing a stir. Although we don’t know much, as we discovered a lot in Prometheus, Covenant will inevitably have the scares. With Prometheus scoring highly in the Box Office, fans and cinema-goers alike are eager to see where Ridley Scott will take the franchise.
However, the most curious part of Alien: Covenant will be the plot and how it connects with Prometheus. Michael Fassbender is reprising his role as David, as well as acting as a connection between the two films. A new crew, with a ship aptly named “Covenant” will discover him. Beyond that, it’s not clear what happens next.
In the interview with Collider, Michael Fassbender was asked a few questions about the up-and-coming film. Here’s what he had to say about the direction:
“It’s kind of got more of the sort of thriller, imminent disaster feel that Alien had, so it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. I’m really excited to see it, I think it’s gonna be super scary number one and then again with the massive scope of Prometheus…”
As if the original Alien trilogy and Prometheus weren’t enough, it seems that Scott wants to agonise us even more with intense build-ups and big shocks along the way.
Michael Fassbender added this:
“Once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it doesn’t let up. It’s really gonna bring chills to the cinema.”
He is really putting the emphasis on the chill factor. You can’t blame Ridley Scott for trying – people definitely won’t be falling asleep.
