A lot of people are wondering exactly how a friendship with Ryan Reynolds has been affecting Welcome to Wrexham co-star Rob McElhenney; and it looks like McElhenney is doing one major rebrand of his actual name.
It’s been circling around social media that McElhenney will be changing his name to ‘Rob Mac’, and Mac has now released a video explaining the change and why he doesn’t feel bad about it at all. Here’s his post:

“… Times have changed, and most people already call me Rob Mac anyway. My family knows me and loves me regardless of how many syllables and have, and that’s the only thing that I really care about.”
Even with the way the video is delivered, a lot of people are already commenting on how Ryan Reynolds has rubbed off on Mac, and the comments are saying things like, “Ryan Reynolds release this man from your grasp,” and, “I don’t like Ryan Reynolds at all and now there’s 2 of them.”
Celebrities changing their names is probably expected from time to time, but I guess a lot of people are just reacting since Mac had kept his hard-to-spell-and-pronounce name for a while, and it was kind of part of his charm as a creative.
Personally I just felt like I wasted my time learning how to spell and pronounce McElhenney whenever I had to cover a story about him; but if he’s happy with it, I guess there’s really no problem.
The next season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia comes out July 9 on FX.
