Matt Reeves’ The Batman Could Come Out Between 2021 and 2022

Rumors had been coming out that Matt Reeves’ The Batman was aiming to start production later this year, making a very likely release sometime in 2020. Bad news for fans, it looks like they’ll have to wait a bit longer before they see Batman onscreen again.

According to Forbes, WB is aiming for The Batman to come out on the summer of 2021; and if that doesn’t push through, it could very well be released in 2022. While I understand that some bat-fans are tired of waiting for this film, it’s best to keep in mind that WB is just taking their time trying to make sure that this movie is bulletproof. With three appearances in the DCEU already, Batman is yet to be in a film that wasn’t considered divisive.

For now, we have no idea what’s in store for The Batman.; all we have to hang on to are rumors. There’s a rumor going around that the film will be a prequel focusing on a younger Bruce Wayne, and it’s also been said that The Penguin will be the main antagonist for the movie.

We don’t know if Ben Affleck is returning either, and at this point, his involvement has been so on and off that I’m starting not to care if it happens. I guess we’ll just have to wait for some official confirmation which hopefully comes later this year.

Personally, I just want a story that pushes the DCEU story forward. I understand that Wonder Woman was a period piece, but did the sequel really have to take place in the 80s?

The Batman is now aiming for a release sometime in 2021.
