A few months ago, Star-Lord himself Chris Pratt said that Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 would likely be “the biggest spectacle movie“ever made. It’s easy to take his comments with a grain of salt since he’s selling a movie he’s been paid to star in, but Marvel Studios have just dropped a brand new trailer for the film and…he might have been onto something.
This trailer expands on almost every aspect from last month’s debut teaser. We get more of the team, added awkward moments between Star-Lord and Drax, Baby Groot awesomeness and more. Also, underscoring the trailer is the 1974 Sweet song called “Fox on the Run”, which will probably be on the “Awesome Mix Vol. 2” cassette that Star-Lord’s mother left him.
But see for yourself. Here’s the trailer;
There’s no hint at a plot, but the appeal of the first film was the humour, universe-building and the team dynamic. If this trailer is any indication, we’ll be getting that but on a much bigger scale. What’s interesting though is that the first movie’s trailers sold the actors involved playing the titular guardians. This time, the character names are front and centre, showing how much these obscure comic book characters have propelled themselves into public consciousness over the past two years.
Also, the moment a Baby Groot plush or toy is available to buy, snap it up immediately. The little tree-guy will surely be the “must have” 2017 Christmas toy, so it’s best to be prepared.
Returning to the MCU are actors Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan and more. Newcomers include Kurt Russell, Elizabeth Debicki and Sylvester Stallone. Not much is known about the plot for the sequel, but director James Gunn and actor Chris Pratt have opened up about it being a bigger, yet smaller story about fatherhood and family.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 will be released in May 2017.
