Last week, Mark Hamill and James Gunn made headlines over an exchange that would possibly put Hamill in the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie, and now Hamill has offered an update on him possibly appearing in GOTG Vol. 3.

Talking to Entertainment Tonight during the 13th Annual Oscar Wilde Awards, Hamill said:

“Isn’t it crazy? I was just sitting there.. I mean, I used to do crossword puzzles or the jumble. Now I’ll have Twitter on and some person says ‘Hey, James, why don’t you bring Mark Hamill into the next Guardians of the Galaxy. And, to my surprise, James answered, ‘Well, he lives right around the corner. Maybe we’ll have coffee and we’ll talk about it.’ So I answered. I said, ‘I would be happy to do so not only as a good neighbor but as an unemployed neighbor.'”

With the clear Star Wars influence on Guardians of the Galaxy, it would be cool to actually see Luke Skywalker make an appearance on the show. I don’t know if they could have him as the main character, but I would love to see Hamill play an old Ravager or some kind of kooky alien.

Ever since 2015, Hamill has seen himself get a sudden boost in the spotlight again thanks to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He did an amazing job in The Last Jedi, and now I’m just excited to see more of him onscreen. He’s proven himself as a great all-around actor, and hopefully Hollywood is willing to give him the opportunity.

No specific release date has been announced for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but it’s expected to hit theaters sometime in 2020.
