On Wednesday, Nintendo announced that they were creating a new game for iOS by announcing on Twitter “The checkered flag has been raised and the finish line is near,” and letting us know the new title, Mario Kart Tour, which is reportedly in development and slated for a March 2019 release.

It didn’t offer any other details of course, but we’re pretty excited for this. Mario Kart is easily one of the Nintendo’s top franchises the first one having been released in 1992 and the last one being recently released for the Nintendo Switch, in which we’ve already spent hours playing everyone around the world.

We’re guessing since it’s other mobile titles “Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp”, “Fire Emblem Heroes” and “Super Mario Run” have done so well that it only makes sense to bring one of it’s top titles to the mobile arena.

Unfortunately, no exact release date is known, but if Nintendo is smart it will either be in the summer or around the holidays when people have more time to play. All we know is we hope they leave microtransactions out of this and just stick to a one-time price, but that’s probably wishful thinking on our part since microtransactions are one of the top revenue models for mobile gaming.

In the meantime are you excited about this news? What other games would you like Nintendo to bring to your mobile device? Let us know in the comments below.
