Marvel Studios may have dropped Jonathan Majors like a hot deuce, but it looks like he’s still managed to get some work around the indie cinema scene.
Just in, a first trailer has been dropped for Magazine Dreams which comes out in March, and it features Majors with some actual bodybuilding physique. Check this out:
The logline reads: An amateur bodybuilder struggles to find human connection in this exploration of celebrity and violence.
According to Vulture, Magazine Dreams had premiered at Sundance two years ago, but had found a hard time getting a distributor after the allegations on Jonathan Majors went public. Searchlight was said to have dropped the movie, but it was eventually picked up by Briarcliff, the same distributor behind the Trump biopic The Apprentice starring Sebastian Stan (another MCU star, surprisingly).
Regardless of what you think about Major, there’s no denying that he can be a very intense emotional actor at times—and it shines here in the trailer for Magazine Dreams. It’s said that a lot of the quoted critics in the trailer all came out before the allegations, so it looks like the movie is really leaning in on Majors and his talent, despite his public image for the past few years.
For now, Majors is still serving his 52-week-long domestic violence intervention program, but we’ll have to wait and see if this movie will change the public opinion of him moving forward.
Watch out for Magazine Dreams when it comes to cinemas on March 21.
