There’s been a buzz going around that NBC is planning to revive The Office, and fans immediately went on to look at the original cast members (of the American version) to see if they’ll be making a return. John Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert on the show, opens up about coming back and says that he would absolutely love to.

Appearing on Ellen to promote his movie A Quiet Place, Krasinski was asked about reprising the role of Jim Halpert, to which he says:

“Are you kidding? I’d love to get that gang back together.”

Even Krasinki’s onscreen wife, Jenna Fischer, who plays Pam Beesly, has admitted that she would also love to return to the show. However, NBC hasn’t approached either of the two for a comeback. Krasinski says:

“I did hear [about ‘The Office’ revival], on the Internet. Guess who didn’t get a call? Me!”

I would love for Jim and Pam to return, but if the show was going to focus on a whole new bunch of office workers, I think it wouldn’t make sense to stick to close to the Dunder Mifflin cast. However, if the show did take place in Scranton, there would be a lot of opportunities for original cast members to guest star in the new Office.

The Office was a huge success for NBC, and that was thanks to a fantastic ensemble lead by Steve Carrell as idiot boss Michael Scott. The show did flounder after Carell left, but it did end well, with all the character arcs capping off wonderfully.

A revival would no doubt be compared to its predecessor, which was already heavily compared to the original British version of The Office. Let’s just hope that NBC knows what it’s doing.

No release date has been announced for The Office revival.
