John Boyega became a public figure since he starred in The Force Awakens, but there have apparently been talks for him to join the Marvel universe.
Talking to Josh Horowitz during the Chicago Comic Entertainment Expo (via @DiscussingFilm), Boyega had revealed that he had talked with Marvel head Kevin Feige about joining the MCU, and when Feige asked him who he would have wanted to play, Boyega said he couldn’t come up with anyone.
Years later though, he decided that he would be interested in playing the time-travelling member of the X-Men, Bishop.
For now, it’s still unclear what the MCU’s plan with the X-Men are. After Deadpool and Wolverine and the recent Avengers announcement, it does look like they want to mine the Fox X-Men timeline for a bit more, with returning cast members like Patrick Stewart (Professor X) and Magneto (Ian McKellen) announced for Doomsday.
Bishop had a small role in Days of Future Past played by Omar Sy, but besides that he hasn’t appeared significantly in any other movie. He does have some few episodes in the hit X-Men ’97 though.
Personally, I would prefer that Boyega work on Star Wars with Daisy Ridley, but after his recent comments about feeling mistreated during his time there, I would understand if he wouldn’t want to come back.
As for Marvel, I would prefer that he played someone more on the central stage like Luke Cage. I would honestly love a period piece with Boyega playing Cage in the 70s and an older Luke running for mayor in present time. If all else, maybe he would be a great Kang variant if Jonathan Majors won’t be coming back.
