The Joker sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga had wrapped production back in April, and we’ve yet to get any updates on the film. Just in, director Todd Phillips has shared a new image of Phoenix in the movie, and he teases ‘more to come.’

“Thanks for all the messages. Four years ago we had quite a ride. Lots of great memories. More to come.”
We don’t really have any official descriptions for the film, but it does look like Arthur is still in a jumpsuit, and he seems to be embracing the falling rain. We don’t have the general plot of the movie yet, but it is rumored that Folie a Deux will spend most of its time inside Arkham Asylum—where Joker and Harley will meet.
And while the first movie was a dark character exploration akin to Martin Scorsese films like King of Comedy and Taxi Driver, this sequel is said to be going a completely different direction by being a full-on musical with original songs and dance numbers. Gaga is especially expected to let out a tune and possibly a whole dance sequence with Arthur.
I’ll admit, it’s a completely different way I was expecting a sequel to go, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m just hoping this will all build up to a trilogy where Arthur gets to spend the last movie with his real romance—the Batman.
Watch out for Joker: Folie a Deux when it comes to cinemas on Oct. 4, 2024.
