David Tenant’s Kilgrave might have played a pivotal role in Marvel TV’s Jessica Jones, but now that the series is ending with its third season on Netflix, word has it that the Purple Man will no longer come around to play.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Tennant confirms his absence in Jessica Jones final season on Netflix. This news might come as a surprise to some. Sure, Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones might have cut off Kilgrave’s head during the season 1 finale of the series, but the Purple Man continued to haunt the alcoholic investigator, appearing in the hero’s visions from time to time.

If Kilgrave were to return in season 3 of the series, fans would expect a similar arrangement.

However, it seems like Tennant is no longer returning, most likely because of his schedule. The actor is set to appear in Amazon’s highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet’s World Fantasy Award-nominated novel, Good Omens.

During his interview with EW, Tennant also addresses Jessica Jones’ recent cancellation, admitting that he’s already made peace with the streaming giant.

“I don’t really regard it as a cancellation so much as something having the life that it should have,” Tennant said. “Three seasons of that story is great. Rather than thinking of it as something that was canceled, I think of it as something that had three seasons that will live in the memory.”

Tennant might be fine, but then again he already has Good Omens to keep him busy. Hopefully, Jessica Jones might be able to find another home along with the other cancelled Marvel Netflix series.
