Marvel‘s TV output is in rude health right now, with their previous Netflix series Daredevil and Jessica Jones meeting fan and critical acclaim. Hopefully, the upcoming Luke Cage and Iron Fist series will join them in that. And after those two have arrived we will then get what every Marvel TV fan has been waiting for — the coming together of these four heroes in team-up show The Defenders. We were just given an awesome teaser trailer for that series, and now the studio’s head of TV has talked a little bit more about the show.
In an interview with ComicBook.Com at San Diego Comic-Con, Jeph Loeb had this to say on The Defenders:
“Iron Fist is filming now, and it’s going spectacularly. It’s a very different story from this kind of story. Danny Rand lives in a different world than Luke Cage lives in. Am I looking forward to the day when they all get together? Yes! But the part that’s exciting to me isn’t that they may be able to be fighting some great big bad, it’s that we’ve been able to take the time so that you can get to know Matt Murdock, get to know Jessica Jones, get to know Luke Cage, get to know Danny Rand, and each of them have their own 13 hour story, in some cases more than that, and really get invested in who those heroes are.”
“My question is, okay, what happens when they then meet? They’re very different people. They have very different ways of pursuing their lives. They have a very different way of what they believe in. That’s what’s interesting to me. Hopefully those are the kinds of things we’ll be able to explore once we get into the Defenders world.”

We don’t yet know exactly when The Defenders will unite, but it is expected to be sometime in the second half of 2017. It will star Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and Finn Jones. The showrunners are Daredevil‘s Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez.
