It would be a few years before DC film “Flashpoint hits the theatres. The widely anticipated comic book spin-off adaptation is due to be released in 2020. Nevertheless, it seems like the production studio is already working on the movie. Flashpoint is beginning to take shape –  the directors, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the screenwriter, Joby Harold, and a few of the actors, Ezra Miller and Gal Gadot, have already signed on to the film. With that said, one casting question remains – who would play the Thomas Wayne version of Batman?

There hasn’t been any confirmation as to who would be playing this universe’ Batman. However, one prominent actor has expressed his interest in playing the role.

In a recent interview with Total Film, James Dean Morgan, famous for his role in “Supernatural ,” “The Walking Dead,” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” opened up about the possibility of playing Batman in Flashpoint. The actor, who has worked with Zach Snyder the executive producer of Flashpoint, has explained that he has spoken to Snyder about playing Batman while they were working on Watchmen. Morgan gushes about the character is his favorite. If ever he was tapped, he would be very thrilled to play the role:

“Look, I’m not going to lie. Zack Snyder and I talked about doing Batman together when we did Watchmen. I think it was both he and I’s favorite character and favorite story. And what I know about the Flashpoint Batman is, you know, for me, I think he is not only the darkest of the Batmen but the coolest. And I love his whole storyline and who he is and the tortured soul of it all.”

Morgan is a good choice to play the role. He has already taken on Thomas Wayne in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” so he is an obvious choice. Nevertheless, studios can be very unpredictable. Morgan is well aware of this. However, he also reiterates that he knows the role and he is a good choice:

“We’ll see. I mean, look, DC is DC and they’ll figure out what they’re going to do next. But I’m highly aware of the character, I will say that. I’m highly aware of the character, and it would probably be a thrill of a lifetime to put on the Batsuit.”

Nothing about Morgan playing a role in “Flashpoint” is set in stone. Likewise, the standalone Batman movie directed by Matt Reeves is also hazy on who would be playing the titular role. Ben Affleck has distanced himself from the caped crusader following Justice League. According to an insider as reported by Radar Online, Jon Hamm is swooping in and might take on playing Batman:

“Jon’s gunning hard for the role. They enjoyed working together and have been on good terms ever since. But Jon knows Ben has faced some criticism over Batman v Superman and Justice League and frankly thinks he’d be better suited for the job. This is business for Jon — not personal.”

Who would you want to see play Flashpoints Batman? And do you think Flashpoint is a good move for the DCEU? After all Justice League didn’t turn out too hot.
