It’s been a decade since Jeff Goldblum last escaped Jurassic Park. His character, the sarcastic Dr Malcom, is one of the best things about the original trilogy. A lawyer-turned-hero by the end of the first movie, Goldblum’s character returned again in the sequel The Lost World. Yet, in the final moments of the second film, we didn’t think the actor would return to dino island again.
Then we had the 2015 reboot, Jurassic World. It was clear with this movie that Universal would be moving away from the original trilogy. Firstly, we had a plot that centred around a new park and genetically engineered dinosaurs. Secondly, new actors Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard led the film. With this new approach, it looked unlikely that the original cast would come back.
However, as The Hollywood Reporter report, Jeff Goldblum will be returning in the sequel to 2015’s Jurassic World. The actor will be joining Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard for the sequel, directed by A Monster Calls director J.A. Bayona.
We have no word on the plot yet. The main thing on our minds though is exactly how Goldblum’s character makes a return. He was lucky to escape the dinos last time.
“Stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are returning for the sequel, which also stars Justice Smith, James Cromwell and Toby Jones. Colin Trevorrow, who directed Jurassic World, wrote the script for the follow-up with Derek Connolly. The film is slated for release on June 22, 2018.”
In a recent interview, Goldblum didn’t seem hopeful about his return. Taken from the Metro :
‘If I never did any more, I’d be entirely nourished and happy and fulfilled from having done these.
‘They’re doing spectacularly well without me.’
And we’re glad that they did approach him. Let’s face it, it was a mistake to keep him out of Jurassic Park III. Jeff Goldblum is the true dino hero.
