We know that Netflix is working on a Sandman series, but with COVID-19 shutting down all of production, that show can’t be moving forward anytime soon. What’s interesting is, Audible is making an audio drama for Sandman, and they’ve assembled quite the cast.
This was the announcement from Twitter:
It's astonishing. (And this is just the first three books.) So proud to be part of it. You can preorder at https://t.co/5Nsug0Ank3 #TheSandmanaudio @audible_com @DCComics @audibleuk @DirkMaggs pic.twitter.com/wPtrUTfeoP

James McAvoy will be playing the part of Dream/Morpheus, and he’ll be joined by the likes of Kat Dennings (Death), Taron Egerton (Constantine), Riz Ahmed (The Corinthian), and Andy Serkis (Matthew the Raven). They even managed to get Good Omens actor Michael Sheen to play Lucifer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the drama is said to be adapting the first three books in the Sandman series, Preludes & Nocturnes, The Doll’s House, and Dream Country. Neil Gaiman is also attached as the narrator, and we could probably get more episodes down the line should this drama be a success.
Audible Originals EIC David Blum also had this to say about the show:
“A truly exceptional cast of artists will be bringing this cultural phenomenon to life. We are honored to be working alongside Neil Gaiman and DC to create a truly immersive adaptation that we know fans and listeners will love.”
Though we don’t know when the Netflix show arrives, this is sure to keep everyone hyped until then. I can’t stress how impressive the casting is, and I can’t wait to listen when the show debuts on July 15.
