With 10 Cloverfield Lane out this week, producer J.J. Abrams sat down with IGN to talk about the film. In discussing the project, the filmmaker was asked about his other impending works, namely Portal and Half-Life. He admitted he has nothing new to offer as of yet, but the two films are in development and moving along. “We’ve got writers and we’re working on both those stories… but nothing that would be an exciting update.”
His statement that the update isn’t very exciting may be in the opinion of the beholder. Valve, the developer of the two titles, has been mute for years on the long-awaited Half-Life 3, and nothing new has been offered on Portal since Portal 2’s release in 2011. Unless we’re counting Virtual Reality game, The Lab, for HTC Vibe. At least there’s confirmation that the two films exist and are being actively developed.
While you wait for more news on the films, check out Dan Trachtenberg’s (10 Cloverfield Lane director) break-out short film, Portal: No Escape below.
