Is the Solo: A Star Wars Story Trailer Coming Soon?

It looks like the new trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story could be coming out soon. Disney is still committed to the May 25 release date for the Star Wars standalone, which is a few short months away. They most likely didn’t want to release it sooner so as not to overshadow The Last Jedi, but with that in mind, it looks like the first trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story could arrive in early January during the college football National Championship game.

The time still has not been confirmed, or even hinted at by anyone at Disney or Lucasfilm yet, but it makes a ton of sense. The game is set to air January 8 on ESPN. For one, Disney owns ESPN and Lucasfilm, so it makes sense for those reasons.

Solo: A Star Wars Story has had an increased budget due to a last minute change of directors which saw Ron Howard taking over the film when Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired. This has also lead to speculation that Disney is expecting Solo to bomb in the box office due to the last minute changes, the re-shoots, and rumors of actors not being on par with the rest of the franchise.

It will be interesting to see the first trailer and get the first looks at a Ron Howard directed Star Wars movie as well as seeing how Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo) has taken to playing the iconic character. Is he capable of capturing that Harrison Ford magic?

If the trailer does drop on the 8th, this means we’re probably going to see some official stills, a poster and a trailer teaser next week. So you’d do good to keep an eye on Ron Howard’s Twitter, as he’s been very active since taking over the movie.
