It’s been years since Matt Reeves was announced to helm The Batman solo movie, and it finally looks like things are getting into gear. The film is looking for a younger Batman to replace Ben Affleck, and rumor has it we could be getting the announcement soon.
This comes from insider Daniel Richtman who says that we could have the reveal of the new Batman actor this week:
The Batman casting is upon us, maybe even this week.

With the film set to begin production later this year, it would make sense that the movie would make a decision for who will be the new Batman as early as now. Don’t forget, the movie is rumored to showcase a full rogues gallery of villains, and the film has to cast those characters as well.
Then again, it’s entirely possible that we won’t get an announcement at all, but I’m expecting that we’ll find out the identity of the new Batman before June rolls in.
As of now, we don’t even have a shortlist of who WB is considering to be the younger Caped Crusader. Rumors have been going around that Robert Pattinson (Twilight) is being considered, and fan favorites for the casting have been Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger, Man from UNCLE). It was said that the studio is looking for someone who the audience recognizes already, so we should be getting someone who won’t be too obscure.
Personally I have my fingers crossed that The Batman pull a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and re-hire Ben Affleck for the role. I’m sure fans would be ecstatic.
The Batman is set to come out June 25, 2021.
