The folks at HISHE have created animated brilliance once again. Did anyone ever doubt? Their latest offering tackles 2016 Marvel blockbuster, Captain America: Civil War. If you’ve never seen a HISHE (How it Should Have Ended) video, you must rectify that tragedy immediately. Creators Daniel Baxter and Tommy Watson have amassed an amazing catalog of parody videos, mostly focused on how well-known movies should have ended. Their comedic insight and tongue-in-cheek references hit the mark pretty much 100% of the time. They’ve also been known to do other videos outside their standard, which include hero swaps, reviews and even a HISHE Kids collection.
Their latest, Civil War HISHE, hits on points that would have made the film end far sooner via a much less convoluted path, per their M.O. We see our heroes calling Tony Stark out on his hypocrisy in endorsing the Sakovia Accords, the underutilization of the Vision, how Bucky Barnes could have avoided regressing into the Winter Soldier if he’d just plugged his ears when Baron Zemo read his trigger words and more. Take note of Bucky’s epitaph, too (and Cap’s for that matter). As if all that wasn’t enough, they even touch on the Captain America-Agent of HYDRA controversy. Frankly, recapping it here doesn’t do it justice. Therefore…
One of the standard highlights of HISHE videos is the meetup at the Superhero Cafe afterwards with Superman and Batman. It’s become commonplace for Batman to interject at some point with his signature, “Because I’m Batman!” FYI, the best use of this line is in the Guardians of the Galaxy HISHE. If you like what you see, and honestly how could you not, be sure to check out their other stuff. You’ll find yourself caught in a binge, but it’s worth it.
