Last week we got our first look at Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur in the Joker movie, but now they’ve released Phoenix’s completed look at the Clown Prince of Crime.
Check out this make-up test video which transitions from Arthur Fleck to Mr. J:

Thanks to TMZ, we also have a set video of Phoenix in character inciting a riot in a train station. Just like the opening heist from The Dark Knight, we also get to see him hide among his henchmen in a mask; no idea if the heist ends with all the lackeys having killed each other.
If we analyze the look, I would say that this Joker’s main influences seem to come from the classic 60s Joker by Cesar Romero as well as Heath Ledger’s Joker from The Dark Knight. For one, the messy hair and make-up is Ledger’s, but the colors of the suit look like they were pulled right out of 60s Batman.
Probably the most unique thing about the look is the clown make-up, as we’ve never seen the Joker depicted with a red nose and red eyebrows before. Some people think that this isn’t actually the final look, but I would actually be fine if the film ended with the Joker having this face on.
Then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if it kept changing all throughout the movie.
I have to say, I was very skeptical about this movie in the beginning, but I’m slowly warming up to it. Phoenix looks great as the character, and I would love to see how he brings everything to life. Not to mention he has a stellar cast backing him up. Here’s also the first image of Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond:

We don’t really know much about Dumond as a character, but if The Killing Joke were to be a reference, I would guess that she’s playing the Joker’s wife. We don’t know how she ends up in the comics, but I’m guessing something terrible is in store for her.
