She may have started out on the big screen as a crazed Manson girl for Quentin Tarantino, but like a lot of other actors in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Mikey Madsen is expected to show up in way more projects—especially after her Oscar win.
It’s not clear what Madsen is going to be doing next, but THR reports that she’s currently at the top of several wish lists for studios and directors, including Colleen Hoover (It Ends with Us) and Greta Gerwig (Barbie, Little Women).
Though Gerwig had started off as an actress in the industry, she’s since moved on to become one of the most prominent auteur directors. After her success with Lady Bird and Little Women, she managed to helm a blockbuster hit with the Margot Robbie-fuelled Barbie movie.
For now, Gerwig is said to be developing a Chronicles of Narnia movie series for Netflix, but we’ve yet to get an update on that project. Should Madsen come onboard though, I honestly can’t think of any role she can play in a Narnia movie. Maybe Gerwig has another unannounced film cooking that’s closer to the indie vibes of Lady Bird. I just noticed that two out of her three hits were actually based on adaptations of existing IP, and Narnia would be the next thing on Gerwig’s plate.
As for Madsen, she’s been turning heads since OUATIH and Scream, so I’m just hoping that Anora will manage to rocket her to more jobs with some interesting directors.
It’s not clear when Gerwig’s next movie is going to release yet, but you can watch out for Madsen’s Oscar-winning performance in Anora.
