With Westworld reaching its season finale next week, our attentions are now turning back to HBO‘s other series, Game of Thrones. It looks like we’ll have to wait until summer 2017 before the new season airs. There is some exciting news in the current GOT void, though. Sophie Turner, aka Sansa Stark, has also been talking to EW about how her character develops in season 7. In addition to this, Sansa, Jon and Arya all featured briefly in a new teaser from HBO. You can see a break down of the teaser, below.
Season 6 left Sansa Stark in a very powerful position. Towards the start of the season, we saw Sansa in the hands of the ruthless Ramsay Bolton. However, as the plot built up to the finale, Sansa and Jon were finally in charge of Winterfell again. In the interview with EW, Turner talks about how Sansa’s freedom in season 7 affects her.
“She’s seemingly in control for the first time – and it really suits her,” Turner says. “She’s kind of having a bit of a power trip. But she’s also becoming more insecure, because there are threats to the power that she holds.”
For the first time in years, we saw two Starks come back together in season six, with Sansa and Jon reuniting at Castle Black. It appears that we’ll be seeing more of this now that GOT is heading for its final season in 2018. As Turner says:
“What overall excites me about this season is that main characters are coming together and it feels like things are ramping up,” says the X-Men: Apocalypse star. “It’s really exciting and all feels like it’s coming to a big conclusion.”
Throughout her time on GOT, Sansa Stark has arguably had the most difficult story. Although Ramsay Bolton is now gone, it remains to be seen just what kind of plan Baelish has for Sansa. He might rescued Jon and Sansa during the epic season six battle against Ramsay, but the new Lord of the Vale is a tricky character. He’ll go to extreme lengths to get what he wants.
