Season 1, Episode 10: Fire and Blood
Dany hatches dragon babies while sitting in a giant fire.
Season 1 saw Dany go from unwilling child bride to empowered Khaleesi in a matter of just a few episodes, and there were a long list of memorable moments from this season alone that could have easily made the cut. But it was the last episode of season one that saw the culmination of all of these moments wrapped up into one, and introduced us to a Khaleesi who would charge forth without her khal.
By the end of Fire and Blood, Khal Drogo is now dead at the hands of the witch who she asked to do blood magic to save his life; said witch also used Danys’ first born child to pay for it with his life. Dany has also lost the support of the bloodriders now that Drogo is gone, so you could say things are pretty dire. It seems to her that the only way to convince the remaining Dothraki that she’s worthy of their loyalty is to walk into a huge, burning fire with some dragon eggs and then walk out unscathed with some actual dragons. So, that’s exactly what she did! As she stood there with one dragon perched on her shoulder and cradling the others, the Dothraki kneeled before her. Not because she was a Khaleesi, but because she was now the Mother of Dragons.
Thus would begin a Game of Thrones trend of us watching people bow down to Dany because she freaked them the hell out.
