HBO‘s Game of Thrones will soon return for its seventh season. To celebrate this, the studio have released several new images featuring the cast. Firstly, there’s the image of Cersei and Jamie fighting to keep the Lannisters in charge of King’s Landing. Then we have both Daenerys and Jon rallying their troops on the north and south sides of Westeros. Check out some of the images below.
Although the seventh season of Game of Thrones will be shorter, from what’s being reported, the show will be ramping up a gear. With only two seasons left to wrap up the storylines of Jon, Daenerys, Tyrion, Sansa, Arya, and more, we don’t think there’s any danger of season seven or eight cutting back on the epic scenes such as the Battle of the Bastards in season six. To back this up, ComicBookMovie point to a recent Tweet from Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) after she finished reading the script for season seven. The actor couldn’t contain her excitement and it sounds as though there are some gems heading our way:
“Just finished reading season 7, s**t gets REAL. I’d start preparing yourselves now… scratch that, nothing will prepare you for this… Holy BALLS.”
This image is particularly interesting. After the events of season six and Sansa turning down Little Finger’s offer of ruling together on the Iron Throne, it appears that the two are working together again. Of course, this could equally be Little Finger creeping around Sansa, as we’ve seen him do before – yet, the body language suggests otherwise.
It appears that Bran is still North of the Wall. Does this mean he’ll have another encounter with the White Walkers before he manages to get across? For the sake of a little extra drama, we hope so.
This continues the theory that the Hound is heading up to the North to battle the White Walkers with the brotherhood. He could equally be heading up to help Jon – although, he’ll probably have bigger fish to fry in season seven.
Game of Thrones returns on July 16th, on HBO in the U.S., and July 17th on Sky Atlantic in the U.K..
