MADHOUSE’s Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End had premiered back in 2023 and has since grown to be one of the best anime to come out in recent years. The first season sits with 28 episodes released over two cours, and now the second season is set to come out in 2026.
Here’s the official key art announcing that Frieren will be coming back January 2026:

An animated teaser has also been dropped, but it’s really just the hey visual:
The second cour of the show had Frieren and Fern trying to get their mage certification to allow them to travel further north, with their destination being Aureole—the alleged resting place of souls where Frieren could possibly run into her old comrade Himmel again.
Frieren, along with Dungeon Meshi, is considered to be a rejuvenation of the fantasy genre of anime in recent years. With the countless isekai stories that have been released recently, both series are a sincere return to form when it comes to fantasy, and neither are plagued with what some fans call ‘shameless fanservice’.
Frieren also has an interesting twist in that it’s a story that takes place after the big ‘Demon King’ boss is defeated; and it’s sort of a fantasy slice-of-life that follows an immortal Frieren as she slowly learns the value of her human connections and their fleeting nature.
The series has only gotten more popular since it premiered in 2023, and fans should only expect its fandom to grow by the time the second season releases.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End returns on January 2026 and is available on Crunchyroll.
