Robert Pattinson Does Another Freaky Voice in First Trailer for Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17

The start of the year had reported that Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17 starring Robert Pattinson was going to be delayed indefinitely, and fans were worried they would have to wait a little longer before they would get to see the film.

As it turns out, the movie is going to come out at the start of 2025, and a new trailer has been dropped with Pattinson being the quirky character actor that he is. Check this out:

Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:

From the Academy Award-winning writer/director of “Parasite,” Bong Joon Ho, comes his next groundbreaking cinematic experience, “Mickey 17.” The unlikely hero, Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living.

Like with any of Bong’s Hollywood films, Mickey 17 has also managed to nab a star-studded cast. Besides Pattinson, the film also stars Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Mark Ruffalo, and Toni Collette.

It’s also worth noting that the movie is actually based on a book called Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton. It was said that the number was upped to 17 to really push the point that Mickey was that expendable that he would have to be cloned that many times.

I have said before that the plot sounds pretty similar to Moon starring Sam Rockwell and directed by Duncan Jones, but based on what we see in the trailer, the production value is definitely way up, and the movie is really leaning into the comedy element.

Of course, we shouldn’t forget that signature class critique that’s always present in a Bong Joon-ho film.

Catch Mickey 17 when it comes to cinemas on Jan. 31, 2025.
