Zack Snyder has been handing out behind the scenes glimpses of Justice League on his Twitter account. As he celebrated Batman Day, he gave us our first look at one of Bruce Wayne’s biggest allies. The director unveiled the first look at JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.
The Oscar winner is a huge coup for DC. Simmons seems pretty excited to tackle the role, which is understandable after you take a look at him. This take on the commissioner looks like he’s been ripped from a comic. You can see the photo below, which is incredibly well framed by Snyder. No matter what you think of his storytelling, his work with a camera is fantastic.

While the commissioner takes the attention in the photo, the Bat Symbol is worth looking at too. It seems like this is a different one to Batman v Superman’s. The surrounding building hints at that, plus it seems like Gordon has just ripped the tarp cover off. Could this be on top of the Gotham Police Department? Or has Gordon set up shop somewhere else? He’s not likely to play a huge role in the DC team up, but hopefully we get some backstory on this version of the character.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions
Justice League arrives in theatres on November 17, 2017.
