Netflix Drops First Look at BET, Their Live-Action Adaptation of Kakegurui

The Kakegurui anime already has two seasons out on Netflix, but we’ve known for a while that there was going to be a live-action adaptation called Bet. The show is set to premiere on Netflix this May, and we have our first teaser.

Check this out:

At a private school where gambling determines social status, a mysterious new student with a tragic past is shaking things up — and betting on revenge.

I’ll admit, the trailer does have that anime-to-live-action feel that One Piece also had, but it’s probably because the live-action format does point out just how ridiculous the premise of the original manga is.

I’m an avid fan of the manga and anime, and I’m kind of trying to figure out which character is which this time around; plus it also seems like they’re already giving Yumeko some kind of revenge plot even though that wasn’t clear in the earlier parts of the story—she was just kind of a wild card who was really horny (and I mean horny) for gambling.

If anything, a lot of people are already complaining in the comments about how much they don’t like what they’re seeing, but I’m going to give the series a shot to wait and see just how it spins the original formula. I’m sure this series will be somebody’s jam, and if it gets anyone to check out the original anime or manga, then it would have done its job.

Watch out for Bet when it comes to Netflix on May 15.
