Fantastic Beasts 3: WB Planned to Remove Depp Way Before the Results of the Trial

A lot of fans were furious over the ruling of Depp’s libel case which got him removed from Fantastic Beasts 3, and while the internet cries #JusticeForJohnnyDepp, word has come out that it’s all been part of WB’s plans since before the results of the trial.

Talking to Insider, Hollywood Branded’s Stacy Jones had stated that Depp’s removal from Fantastic Beasts “was in fact a very well-orchestrated plan, built over time with the lead-in to the trial.” Even before the word of abuse had got online, reports had been coming about Depp being abusive on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean, and being hard to work with. Jones continues:

“The reality is Warner Bros. had no choice in the matter to bid farewell to Depp… ‘Fantastic Beasts’ is a family film, and physical abuse alongside drug and alcohol abuse are nonstarters for consideration, even when the role being played is that of a bad guy.”

This surely isn’t going to sit well with fans, especially since evidence had come out that Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard had not been completely blameless when it came to the issues of domestic abuse. Though Depp had lost his job and everyone is saying it’s the end of his career, Heard managed to keep all her roles, and is set to return in Aquaman 2 as well as Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Personally, I don’t really know where to stand with the case, but I believe that Heard isn’t completely blameless when it comes to the issue. With Depp planning to appeal on the court’s ruling, I’m just waiting to see if there will be any changes moving forward.

Fantastic Beasts 3 is set to come out July 15, 2022.
